GLORIA MARIS

the periodical of

the Belgian Society for Conchology

Since the foundation of the Society in 1961 a periodical with the name ‘Gloria Maris’ is edited for the members.

Till 1986 it was a stenciled edition (A4-format) with a variety of articles: general information on shells and shell-families, articles of scientific importance, short notes, traveling reports etc.

Starting with volume 25, Gloria Maris appears in a printed edition containing articles of a high scientific level:

- revisions and detailed descriptions of shell families and species;

- descriptions of new species;

- inventories of the shell fauna of specific territories (such as the Red Sea, the Solomon Islands …).

Most articles are in English with a translation or a summary in Dutch.

Gloria Maris is a well-appreciated periodical in Belgium and in other countries. You will find it in several museums, scientific institutions, universities and societies in Europe (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands) and outside Europe (Australia, Brazil, Israel, Japan, New Zeeland, Russia, the U.S.A., Uruguay and South Africa).
